He assisted in writing NFPA 921: Guide For Fire And Explosion Investigations. He provides services that have aided businesses and manufacturers, insurance companies, law firms and municipalities.

Denny Smith carries the designation of Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI). His experience is far reaching for origin, cause and arson investigation, including experience as a licensed building and fire code plan review examiner and inspector. He also helped write NFPA 921: Guide For Fire And Explosion Investigations, and serves on the NFPA Committee on Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators.

Ryan’s experience in the fire service started in 1995 with his local volunteer fire department.  Since then he has gained a great deal of knowledge and experience in the fire investigation profession.  Ryan was an intern for Kodiak Fire & Safety Consulting for three summers while he was attending Oklahoma State University for a degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.  Ryan has a wide range of experience in fire investigation ranging from minor fires in single family homes all the way to multi-million dollar industrial losses.

Rich Vicars is extensively experienced and formally trained in new product engineering and development.  Holding a master’s degree, including a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, Rich has designed, tested, manufactured, and launched a variety of successful consumer and industrial electronics in industries like HVAC, refrigeration, consumer electronics, home theater/audio/video, aerospace, automotive, medical device, and much more, for many Fortune 500 companies.  Having been an engineering and operations manager for two world class engineering and manufacturing companies, Rich brings over 17 years of real world electronic and electrical engineering forensic and physics of failure capability to Kodiak, with an emphasis on the failure analysis of electronic assemblies, printed circuit boards, and solid state componentry using advanced lab equipment like scanning electron microscopy, real time micro-focus x-ray, EDXA, FTIR, and Ion Chromatography.  In addition to investigating fire scenes, Rich also works in the development phase with many of Kodiak’s clients in the execution of comprehensive reliability engineering and product qualification/test programs, as well as the implementation of top level and very cost effective quality systems.  If you are looking to define and control your warranty, reliability, and product liability issues, Rich is an excellent and proven resource that you will be glad to have on your team!
